Civilian Member

Your normal retirement date is when you reach your 65th birthday.

Unreduced Early Retirement

The unreduced early retirement provisions are the same for both Police & Civilian members.

25 Years of Service

You may choose early retirement with an unreduced pension if you have completed at least 25 years of pensionable service, regardless of age.

Age 55

You may choose early retirement with an unreduced pension any time after you reach age 55.

Reduced Early Retirement

Police Member

You may retire at any time after you reach the age of 50 provided you have completed at least two years of pensionable service.  If you do not have 25 years of service your pension will be subject to a reduction.  Your monthly pension will be reduced so that it has the same "lifetime value" as if you began your pension at the earliest date you would have been eligible to receive an unreduced pension.

Postponed Retirement

Police Member

If you choose to work past your normal retirement date you may continue to contribute to the Plan and accrue benefits until you reach your 65th birthday.

If you are retiring prior to age 60 for Police members, or age 65 for Civilian members, you must notify Möbius Benefit Administrators Inc. at least 30 days before your intended retirement.

For normal retirement at age 60 for Police members, or age 65 for Civilian members, the 30-day advance notice is not required.  Please allow a minimum of two weeks to complete and process the required paperwork and ensure you will receive your first payment when expected.
